As you might expect coming into the last race before the summer break, there are limited updates through the field but where there are, the focus is on meeting Hungary's specific demands.

Red Bull only top four team with changes

Following on from their significant update package last time out in Spa, Red Bull have further changes to their front wing and front corner.

While their front wing upgrade is listed as one aimed at ‘performance’, Red Bull say they have produced a longer chord second element for the front wing lap to add load and meet the expected rear wing level for this circuit – high downforce.

The race around the Hungaroring typically places a high cooling demand on the cars given its lack of long straights but also the usually high ambient temperatures, and to overcome this Red Bull have enlarged and re-profiled the scoop intake and exit duct at the front corner.

The team say the changes will offer more intake and exit areas to the wheel bodywork and therefore increased brake cooling.

A new front wing for Aston Martin

Similarly to Red Bull, Aston Martin arrive in Hungary with a new, more aggressive front wing flap on the wing they introduced last time out in Spa.

This Belgian specification was one that had originally been adapted from their Silverstone specification, but now it’s been adapted again to increase the total amount of load the wing can generate and meet the higher downforce rear wing they’ll be running.

Racing Bulls open up cooling louvres

Racing Bulls have two updates, one focused on performance and the other on increasing the cooling capabilities of their VCARB-02 car for this weekend.

First, the shape of the front brake drum components have been changed to improve the flow conditioning from front to rear. Secondly, the team have opened up the cooling louvre panel on their engine cover to increase engine cooling and ensure component reliability in the heat that’s expected in Budapest.
